    Upgrade Shop

    An idea that's been in my head for a while is the idea of a room where you could upgrade one of your current items into a level two variant of itself.

    Perhaps there'd be a beggar with a pedestal and one of your items in front of it and some indication that it would be the level two version. Perhaps for the sake of going crazy there could be a donation machine that has requirements (10 coins, 4 bombs etc) in order to reroll the item or get another item upgraded if you take the upgrade.

    The upgrades would be relatively minor and the items would still keep their original effects but this could incentivise different priorities if previously bad items could have a better use, here's a list of some I have off the top of my head.

    • Lemon mishap has a slightly longer duration and bigger area of effect
    • Book of revelations has a small chance to spawn an additional soul heart on the ground
    • Butter bean has a random chance of inflicting poison
    • Forget me now takes you back and additional floor
    • mega Satan's head permanently has a tick charged
    • the candle items flames only expire when you shoot them and can give a limited amount of consumables per floor when shot out like regular fires
    • The Bible grants either a red heart, soul heart or eternal heart
    • the boomerang is larger and has a slight damage buff
    • smelter allows trinkets to be added into the upgrade pool, all trinkets have their own individual upgrade options too
    • 1up respawns you with an addional health up
    • 20/20 can interact with the ambient lighting or reflect the light of flires and slow enemies ala the torch
    • lump of coal makes isaac cough a small fog of air when he fires a tear that deals damage to those nearby like creep
    • abel fires shots directionally and at will like demon baby whilst still mirroring all of your moves
    • Bobby bomb chases enemies with a vengeance and will not explode until they reach their target
    • lard adds an addional 2 heart containers and slows you down by another 0.2
    • chocolate milks can be charged for longer for higher damage and larger tears

    I could go on and I'd be happy to hear your suggestions for minor upgrades too, I'd be most interested to see how it could potentially add effects to items that are very basic like breakfast or fate which in most runs will nearly never have much use if you already have flying or whatever

    When did you played all your challenges ? I got some of them done and I don't know if I should do all of them before I get every boss (the chest etc) or after.

    The Lost done! I spent this week to get his completion marks and Im finally done. I can enjoy the game a bit more now. It wasnt that much of a nightmare as the community says it is tho. Anyways, Im one of the cool kidz now. 4 more characters to go!

    It's a perfectly valid item concept, spend your hearts to recharge items, but's it's just so broken!

    Two hearts is a reasonable cost, but the fact that it only works when you have NO charge is obnoxious. Especially when you combine it with the 9 volt and it becomes useless. Just fix this and it will be way better.

    I also would personally like it if it drained red hearts first in a similar fashion to the razor and the IV bag.

    That last change might make it a bit too powerful, but it'd still pretty situational even if the bug was fixed. That's just my two cents.

    Do eternal hearts save you from losing your devil deal chance?

    I had just 3 red hearts and a piece of eternal heart, my BBF exploded near a mushroom and the poison gas did damage me and made me lose the eternal heart, but my devil deal change stood in place.
