Somebody play us a fanfare, it is Friday again! Fridays working from home just don't have the same vibes as a regular one, man. At the very least, y'all've got another installment of Floor Discussion to keep you going. Huzzah!

We've traveled down through the many Alt Path floors Repentance brought with it, and now it's time to rise back up. More of a collection of floors than a single one, Ascent takes Isaac back Home to face his Mother once and for all, again, and this time she's allegorical. The only part in the game that gets a quick mute from me (how could you have spent our savings?), it's Ascent!

Ascent

• Ascent is a special sequence of small floors which begins after obtaining Dad's Note on the version of Mausoleum II entered via the door in the starting room of Depths II

• Isaac begins each floor in the (empty) boss room, and must located the starting room to ascend up to the previous floor encountered in the run via a beam of light

• Most floors contain new, tougher enemies unique to Ascent in addition to their regular enemies

• Enemies deal double damage, similar to all chapters after Depths/Mausoleum

• Audio snippets of arguments between Mom and Dad play in the background on Mausoleum II, Depths I/Mines II, Caves I/Downpour I, and Basement I

• Floors contain the same Item and Boss Rooms as they did previously if entered (re-generated if not), meaning any items left on pedestals can be obtained during The Ascent.

• Curses won't be encountered on Ascent floors, excluding previously-seen XL floors; Blind pedestals (including on alt path floors) will be visible

• Any trinkets left in Item or Boss Rooms will be transformed into Cracked Keys during the Ascent

• Only regular rooms spawn on Ascent floors (excluding Red Key Special Rooms besides the Ultra Secret Room)
