An idea I had for reworking Delirious (the item) Posted: 15 Jun 2022 02:56 AM PDT So, delirious. One of the rarest item in the game (due to it's special property of being less likely to appear, similar to f.e. Mega Blast), showing only in the Angel room pool. And it also requires tons of charges to use. One would think such item should be really good, right? Yet I personally only tend to pick it up if I don't have a good active already. So one day I started wondering, how could it be changed to become better? This is what I came up with - 1st, use similar mechanic that Larynx and Everything Jar have, where the item can be used at any number of charges, but the more charges it has, the stronger/more useful the effect is. 2nd, the way the effect would be stronger with each charge is - every boss in the game would be assigned to a group, measured by how strong and useful it would be to have them on your side (think of it like the quality system). F.e. Larry Jr would be in the weakest group, while Hush on the strongest one. The idea is, if you were to use Delirious at one charge, you'd get a random boss from the first group, the weakest one. Each charge more would mean the next, stronger group. That way it'd become significantly stronger, while still partially retaining it's random aspect. Also, the idea I had for the final charge would be to give you Delirium-like boss (prolly without the absurdly strong bullet spam though), which would keep transforming into various bosses (so total randomness). That way it'd be super strong one second, then useless another, then somewhere in the middle etc. Kind of like with Jar of everything, where the final charge can give you something really cool, or turn out useless.
