Speculations regarding Repentance (based on footage we have seen)

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 06:49 AM PDT

None of the things I'll mention have been confirmed and are simply assumptions drawn from various bits of gameplay we have seen so far. I haven't seen anybody pointing out these small details, so I thought it would be interesting to share my findings with the rest of the community.

TL;DR is at the bottom of this post, although I suggest you to at least skim over the text since I also linked several videos and gifs which back up my points.

    No. 1: Clicker

On October 9th 2018, Tyrone posted a gif featuring Eve fighting some monsters in the new Dross floor. Eve's spacebar slot displays an item which resembles a TV remote, seemingly being a reskin to the Clicker item from Afterbirth+. Taking damage causes Eve to spawn her Dead Bird familiar and activate the Whore of Babylon effect, as usual.

Clicker's current effect allows the player to swap between characters at the cost of a passive item. However, Clicker does not grant you the starting items of the character you transformed into (e.g. switching to Cain does not grant you the Lucky Foot, and so on), therefore only granting you slight stat changes.

In the gif, Clicker has only been charged by 2, suggesting that it has already been used earlier in the run to transform into Eve. And, as I already mentioned, Eve has both of her starting items. This could eventually mean that Clicker now grants you the starting items of the characters you switched to, making it much more beneficial.

    No. 2: Little Horn

On August 9th 2019, Tyrone posted another video featuring Magdalene combating the Wretched in the Catacombs. Maggy holds various items during the boss fight, the most prominent of them being a spacebar item that resembles a white rune (possibly the Blank Card equivalent for runes) and a bracelet trinket that seemingly causes familiars to orbit around Isaac. However, the item I want to focus on is Little Horn).

In Afterbirth+, Little Horn grants Isaac the chance to shoot special tears which were able to kill enemies instantly upon contact. Little Horn retains this effect in Repentance with a slight change: Little Horn's tears now briefly summon Big Horn's hands which squish the enemy. However, Little Horn seems to have a new effect as well.

Right before the clip ends, Maggy shoots a Little Horn tear at the Wretched. Regularly, Little Horn would not affect bosses, however, in the last frame of the video we can see Big Horn stretching out his arm above the Wretched. The movement of Big Horn's arm is identical to his new attacking animation which can be seen in one of Edmund's previous teasers, suggesting that Big Horn might deal more damage against bosses by attacking them with a swipe. Thus, Little Horn now affects bosses as well.

    No. 3: R Key

(Warning: this part is more speculative than the other points.)

On September 2nd 2019, during the PAX West event, Tyrone hosted a spontaneous stream which showed a little amount of new stuff. We get to see more of the new Ashpit floor and also a new spacebar item that is found in the angel room, Genesis. Unfortunately, we never get to see the actual function of this item.

Based on the fact that Genesis is the first book of the Bible which tells the creation of our world and the first humans, and its pickup quote being In the beginning, we can assume that this item might bring Isaac to the beginning of his run. However, Antibirth already introduced an item which had the exact same function: the R Key.

I speculate that the R Key might be replaced by this angel room item. Edmund already mentioned that all items that have appeared in Antibirth will return, although some of them might be tweaked. I think that change was made due to the fact that the R Key is a more advanced version of Forget Me Now, and since both of them appear in the same item pool, the developers decided to bring the R Key to a different item pool instead.

    ___________________________

TL;DR: Clicker grants you the starting items of the character you transformed into, Little Horn (the item, not the boss) now affects bosses too by dealing more damage to them and the R Key might be replaced by a new angel room item which triggers the same effect.

    some (cursed) isaac ideas

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 09:28 AM PDT

Cursed Dice - "Grab your fancy" - 6 Room Active Item

Upon using, all items in the room will start rapidly changing into other items. When the item pedestal is touched, whatever item it currently was is what will be given. If the room is exited and re-entered before taking the pedestal, it is replaced with a fly.

Cursed Flower - "Bequeath the curse" - Passive Item

The first enemy that damages Isaac in a room will begin taking constant damage, half his tear damage. When said enemy is killed, Isaac will teleport to its location, gaining temporary invincibility. If the enemy is over a pit or rocks, the teleport will not work.

Cursed Hoof - "Keratin and sulfur" - Passive Item

Isaac leaves a trail of non-damaging blood wherever he walks. Every few second, the trail will burst into flames, damaging enemies on it for twice his tear damage and removing the current trail.

Cursed Penny - "Money of malice" - Trinket

Upon picking up a penny, all enemies in the room will take 5 damage.

Rare/alternative pill sound effect for the ??? pill?

    Posted: 27 Jun 2020 08:22 AM PDT

I took a ??? pill recently and rather than the normal "q-q-q-question mark!" or "question... marks?" sound, the dialogue just sort of went "ughh.......... hughhh...... question mark..?". I've never heard this before and it sounded really funny. Is it some king of rare pill sound effect and do all pills have this feature? Wish I'd recorded it
