Item Discussion

Somebody whip out the trumpets and toot a fanfare, because everybody's favorite item is here! That's right, by popular demand, we're talking the hottest item in ~~AB+~~ Repentance, reworked to be the highlight of every run. Although the new, flashy Repentance items feel a bit more exciting to dig into at times, reworked items are basically new again. And so, it's only fitting that these new and improved* items should get their time in the sun as well.

Today, the spotlight shines on the first of many overhauled items to receive an overhauled discussion. Or, rather, to receive a discussion to begin with, since I never got around to an Item Workshop on it. Much like the actual piece of glass I had stuck in my foot for a month before I cracked and pulled it out with tweezers, this bad boy is here, whether you appreciate it or not. Dorks & dweebs, put your hands together for Shard of Glass!

Blood and guts!

Item Effect

• Adds a 25% chance to drop a full Red Heart on damage

• Taking damage causes Isaac to bleed, spewing red tears around

• Holding a fire direction focuses the tears in that direction, with slightly increased range

• After bleeding for 20s, Isaac's Red, Coin, and Rotten Hearts will take 1/2 a heart of damage (bypassing any other hearts), indicated by Isaac turning red and blinking; this damage also has a 25% chance to drop a full Red Heart

• The bleeding effect ends if Isaac has no more Red, Coin, or Rotten Hearts, receives any form of Red or Rotten Heart healing, or if the next hit would kill Isaac.

• Soul Hearts will not take damage (hence switching to Forgotten's Soul will stop bleeding)

• Damaging will continue every 20s until the bleeding ends
