Howdy, you lovely dorks and dweebs! It's a wonderful Tuesday...well, night, at this point, and I've got to speedrun this bad boy on account of a semi-early start tomorrow (which I'm already failing at). I am not particularly looking forward to the 12-ish hour drive ahead of me, but the Discussions wait for no mod. As such, here I am, with some meaning in my life. After all, this is entry #42 of Item Discussions! We're talking The Stairway on this fine eve, so let's hop to it 🕶

The Stairway

May you get what you came for

Item Effect

• Generates a ladder leading to a special Angel Room Shop at the start of every floor (regardless of deal chance)

• Angel Room Shops always contain 3 items/pickups for sale (possibly discounted, as with normal Shops), which can be: Angel Room item (15¢), Eternal Heart (5¢), Soul Heart (5¢), Key (5¢), Holy Card (5¢)

• Angel Room shops will also always contain a Beggar next to the entrance, as well as a Confessional (if unlocked)

• The ladder disappears if Isaac leaves the starting room, regardless whether Isaac has climbed it or not (which also includes saving and quitting, so watch out!)

Passive Item

Pools: Angel Room, Greed Angel Room

Unlock: Defeat Isaac as Jacob & Esau
