Final Spoiler Guidelines and Rules Posted: 27 Mar 2021 05:28 AM PDT Following my post around a month ago asking for input for new rules and their durations, we now have the official rules which will last for a couple of months after Repentance is released. Most importantly, IF YOU WANT TO STAY SPOILER FREE, DO NOT VISIT THIS SUBREDDIT UNTIL YOU FEEL LIKE YOU SHOULD, this is the best way to avoid spoilers that may have slipped by us, and you may accidently see, nay posts you are likely to see in your normal Reddit feed are more likely to be spoiler marked. ANY POSTS WILL SPOILERS IN THE TITLE WILL BE REMOVED COMMENTS IN POSTS SPOILER-MARKED DO NOT HAVE TO BE SPOILERED, ONLY IF THE POST IS UNSPOILERED ARE SPOILERED COMMENTS REQUIRED. - as long as your comment is relevent, if you want to talk about the new secret bosses on a trinket post, keep it spoilered. For posters, to be safe, spoiler mark all your posts showing Repentance in any way until the 30th of April If you do find a post that should have been spoiler-marked, please report it so us mods can see it easier. DataminingDatamining was originally going to be 1 week long as requested by the antibirth developers, however it will now be banned until further notice, this will likely be until we are sure the majority of secrets have been found and nothing major can be spoiled. We expect this to last around a month but we aren't sure. There are other places where you can discuss datamined content if you choose to. SpoilersAs I said in my original post, the need to spoiler mark will be reduced as time goes on, but for the first week, any images, videos or text posts relating to Repentance will have to be spoiler marked. The first thing to be unspoilered would be general items, synergies and room to room gameplay, and will happen on Monday, 5th of April, this also includes any non-secret characters that are shown on the character page before you unlock them, this does not include showing any Repentance bosses, showing new Repentance floors and alt floors is allowed. The next part to be unspoilered would be non-secret bosses, such as those you can find in basement, caves or any of the new floors. This will happen on Monday, 12th of April. The next part to be unspoilered is final bosses, such as the new new mom, Isaac, or Blue baby equivalents, basically any bosses that are guaranteed to show up on a certain floor. This will happen on Monday, 19th of April On the 30th of April, all content in allowed (except datamining).

One more time! Here's everything that was announced in Sinvicta's interview of Edmund! Posted: 26 Mar 2021 03:39 PM PDT REPENTANCE-Last month has been spent on polishing the game -Edmund had a cool idea that was "dripping with theme and story" recently, he talked about it with Vinh and it's going to be included in repentance -During development, Edmund had an idea for a very drastic thing that took one year to implement -Repentance goes above and beyond when it comes to features -Delirium should be reworked in the future, and there was an idea for a mode that was cut that he would like to reexplore in a later update. These are the only two things that he feels should've made the cut and will try to implement after release -The themes and bosses of Antibirth have been reinterpreted to fit the spirit of the game better -Playing with multiple players will unlock things for all characters involved (Not clear, Sinvicta asked the question in a weird way so I'm not sure) -TBOI is one of Steam Remote Play's most played games -Complaining about the state of pills is elitist to Edmund, you're in the 0.1% of players who play in this hardcore way and you won't ever take anything that has a risk of having a negative outcome, so you never take pills; but the vast majority of players do -Vinh had a very elegant solution to "fix" pills, they don't want to reveal it but you WILL take the fucking pills, they are more worth it now -Edmund feels it's better to triumph against adversity than to stomp the game -Isaac was trying to be a modern arcade game where it's random and you go for score, and since most arcade games were randomized your skills at the game were the only determining factor in how far you'd get -The initial idea for devil deals was that your sacrifice would matter, so taking a deal was a big risk. The sacrifices have been made greater, and devil deals now adapt to your health and my cost red AND soul hearts (they know it's controversial but they think it's for the better) -The initial idea for angel deals was that you would get free defensive items, and they would matter because you had to avoid taking damage to get another angel room -They've added a lot of good new angel items, so angel and devil rooms are better balanced -A lot of the time you'll be closer to death, your choices will really matter and you'll often find yourself wondering if you should play it safe or get greedy -There will be "greedy" themes in this version of the game, if you lose a run, you'll know exactly when it went wrong, when you made the wrong choice -They've changed up a lot of the items' behaviors -The code that dictated when and how beggars payed out was inexplicably convoluted and Vinh couldn't even explain it -Edmund doesn't know why the hell there is a tear height stat, but everyone rolls with it now -Luck will play more of a role but not in the way we think (examples: no chance for double healing from a heart, no critical hits) -Edmund says if they added critical hits to Isaac, they'd have to add critical fails and people would NOT like that, and it'd be pretty much impossible to implement in the game at that point in dev anyway -Optional bosses weren't initially made to be replayed after you got all the marks, Edmund couldn't and still can't understand why people continue to play the game after they got all the achievements -You may have a reason to see optional bosses again, they "might appear on stream a few times" (the wording made it sound like you would encounter these bosses outside of their usual location) -According to Vinh, the best transformations are the ones that make you go out of your way to get the required items -They have transformations in mind that they might add later -They thought about changing transformations so that you have to hold your active items, but didn't do it because it would force you to hold on to one active item, and they'd rather have people experimenting with items instead -Edmund says that you only get transformations when you're already strong, so they're just making you stronger -Guppy is the transformation he likes because you can manipulate your probability of getting it -If they add transformations, they would be purely visual, there's already one like this in Repentance when you get "two of that one item", and they think it's really cool -The game is not programmed to give you higher chances of Curse of the Lost after you get mapping -There is no decrease in card drops if you pick up Blank Card -There is NO troll engine in the game (Popular belief that the game is programmed to troll you by giving you contextually bad things) -Getting 0% chance of devil deal on the second floor because the boss room is too small is a bug -Ultra hard was Edmund's idea -Edmund mentioned a "supersoft challenge", you get 10 random items and the map is just a straight line, would be a reward for 100% completion of challenges (He said it like a joke but you could feel that he thought it was a great idea) -A huge amount of troll rooms have been fixed (Rooms with spikes in front of the door, rooms with troll bombs and TNT, etc.) -Edmund says it's okay to fuck with people early game but not late game (with troll bomb rooms or that one room with an item surrounded by metal blocks and you can only get it by flying) -There will be items similar to the concepts of Isaac's Heart, Plan C or the Suicide King card in Repentance -Isaac's Heart is a fun item now, Vinh says it's actually okay -If you're playing as Eden and your streak is over a certain number, there will be a 10% chance you'll start with Isaac's Heart\1]) -There will be no definitive lore answers in Repentance -There is one ending that is unanimously agreed by the testers to be the best one and Edmund loves it too -Who Isaac is doesn't matter, what's important is that little bubble of time we can see him live, the situation in which he is; He's poor, has a single parent, he's feeling weird, and there's religion, and the events of TBOI are the culmination of all of that, of Isaac feeling like he's the cause of everything bad -Repentance will make more sense of that aspect, it paints the picture a little bit better -Isaac suffocates in the chest, he's dead, the game plays out in his mind, it has been OFFICIALY CONFIRMED -The game has lots of allegory, juxtapositions of themes, and all the good stuff doesn't need to be explained, just to be felt, played and heard -The overall message of the game is that organized religion can be very detrimental to a child who's an outcast -All that can be said about Isaac will be said in Repentance -Repentance feels like a closure to the game -A sequel wouldn't have much to do with what Isaac (the character) is currently -There were lots of TBOI 2 designs that made it into Repentance -There will be no TBOI 2 for at least 5 years -Plans for TBOI 2 were made before Afterbirth+ -Secret room spawn rules haven't been touched, but their weights have been modified, there will be fewer super good and super bad ones -Black poop secret room is ultra rare now -There is "so much to talk about" when it comes to Repentance, if they do another interview post-launch -There will be no Sissy Longlegs merch, but she's been upgraded, Edmund said she actually carried him through a few rooms BUMBO-There will be a console release, but nothing outside of that -The game is not in his to-do list, he had ideas for a DLC but he wants to focus on Mewgenics and his personal life FOUR SOULS-There will be a new instructions manual, with better, more specific wording -Cards will have new artwork and better wording -Ed wants to have a link to an online PDF, with examples of decks and ratios for each one \1]) it was a joke [link] [comments]

Reminder: Disable all mods before downloading Repentance Posted: 26 Mar 2021 12:43 PM PDT Only a little amount of information has been disclosed so far regarding the changes of modding capabilities in Repentance. And considering the fact that this expansion will add tons of new content, many mods will most likely be incompatible with the latest DLC. Before downloading Repentance, disable all mods through the mod menu or unsubscribe from them in the Steam Workshop in order to prevent bugs or a potential crash when launching the game. I want everybody to have a fantastic time with Repentance, without any technical issues! [link] [comments]
